I believe that resilience is in all of us and healing is a path we can choose to walk at any time if we are willing to take the first step. Sometimes even helping professionals need their own helper, someone to listen to their experiences and walk alongside them as they process the challenges of helping. Focusing on secondary trauma and occupational stress issues I believe my role as a therapist is to support clients as they navigate their healing process.
After graduating from Michigan State University School of Social Work with a Masters Degree in Social Work I worked with families and children impacted by child welfare issues including foster care and adoption, attachment, child custody issues, parenting time, and mental health.
Trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy I worked with children who experienced trauma and their caregivers. I have worked with children, couples, and families as a clinical social worker for over 12 years in Michigan, and have experience working with other helping professionals to address secondary trauma and issues of burnout from occupational stress.
As a therapist, my role is to support my clients in the healing work they choose to do. I believe therapy is a courageous act of telling our story.
